Sustainability and Sport: how sustainable is your team?1 min read

Sustainability and sport.

Have you ever thought about how sustainable a team can be?
If ESG issues have been close to the hearts of companies for some time now, it should come as no surprise that sports teams are too.

Also because many sports teams are solid companies, often listed on the stock exchange.
In this case, it is legitimate to expect the interest of the shareholders so that the sports team (the business) is managed in a sustainable way.

It is also well known that ESG criteria, if well implemented, allow for the creation of greater value and the attraction of investors.

Brand Directory makes the Most Valuable Brands ranking every year and has published its first edition of the Football Sustainability Index: a study aimed at drawing up a ranking of the most sustainable football teams in the 5 major European leagues according to ESG parameters.

But be careful: the scores assigned do not indicate an absolute measure of sustainability but are the result of an analysis of the perception of the fans or with respect to the commitment of one’s favorite team in terms of sustainability. Were analyzed what is considered the eight most important markets in the world, with a sample ranging from 1000 to 1500 units each: United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, United States, China, Brazil, and Spain.

Take a look at the Football Sustainability Index and see how your team performs off the pitch in the ESG arena.
